New Delhi, February 21 (PTI) Delhi police arrested 6,291 people in over 2,400 gambling cases in 2020, officials said on Sunday.
According to the Delhi police, a total of 2.52 billion rupees were recovered from the defendant.
According to the Delhi police, 2,414 cases of gambling were recorded in the state capital last year.
The maximum arrest occurred in the Vasant Kunj (South) area, where 58 people were caught after police blew up illegal hotels operated casinos, while another 51 were arrested after raids on illegal casinos in the Alipur area .
Action has also been taken against rackets that are operated in homes. The maximum arrest came from the Model Town area, where 22 people were caught gambling, 21 more from the Kailash area and 11 more from the Tilak Nagar area.
Police have also blown up game clubs that operated in slums and JJ clusters.
The maximum of these arrests came from the Madangir area, where 33 people were arrested for gambling, while 25 arrests were made in the Lodhi Colony area, 12 from Govindpuri and 10 from Sangam Vihar, according to Delhi police. PTI AMP CK
