It's so easy to come down these days.
That is exactly why you shouldn't do it for us.
We need more happy people
Emotions are contagious
To spread joy, you must first be joyful yourself. That is not easy.
It is hard work to be happy. It takes a conscious discipline.
How do you find the willpower when you are unable to put in the work to get out of it?
Ask a bigger question
The question: "What can I do to be happy?" might not be big enough.
Often times, the fight takes more energy than we can muster when the focus of the reward is only on the self.
Try answering the question in "What can I do to keep my friends and family happy?" To change.
Let your first answer to this question be "Be happy yourself". Know that your positive energy will elevate the collective mood.
Having this expanded area of focus will give you more motivation to work towards increasing your emotional state so that you can improve the emotional state of those around you.
My dark daily routine
I have dark days. Sometimes there is a reason, but sometimes I have no idea why I feel hopeless. I just do it.
I used to drive passively these days, but that just extends them for me and spreads them to others.
So I developed a routine that works (for me). It's strange and incredibly difficult to "want" it. Especially on the days when I need it most.
During my last dark spell, I went through my routine and then did the following quick clip describing my routine and philosophy.
I hope it reminds me and you of our duty to do the job and improve the collective mood.
It is not possible to be happy all the time, but we can definitely try.
Thank you for reading (and watching) and I wish us all better luck from now on.
Disclaimer: This routine is helpful, but you may also want to seek professional help. Fortunately, there are many online therapy options that you can take advantage of during this pandemic.
